After school and Saturday drop in programs provide open recreation for children and youth in a supervised setting, including group and individual activities, special events and field trips to cultural, sporting, seasonal and civic events. |

| Learning Center/Reading |
|

|
Children and youth can participate in group learning activities, get one-on-one tutorial assistance with homework, work in the computer lab, and practice reading skills. Student volunteers from U.W., MATC, and Edgewood often provide homework help while teen mentors assist younger children in educational and reading activities. |

| Positive Options Program |
|
|
|
POP is a Friday night alcohol and drug abuse prevention program that combines education about substance abuse prevention with wellness and recreational activities. Children and youth enjoy a homecooked meal, followed by an educational segment on a variety of AODA/health/developmental issues (drugs, tobacco, alcohol, peer pressure, positive choice making, wellness) and then the recreational “positive option” activity (skating, basketball, theatre excursions, field trips, rock climbing, etc.). |

| Pre-teen and Teen Development |

Age-specific recreational and special program activities for children ages 5-10 on Mondays and Wednesdays and youth ages 11-17 on Tuesdays and Thursdays (Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm). |

| Alternatives to Violence |
|
 |
|
Alternatives to Violence is an 8-week course that teaches children how to develop self-control, handle anger, recognize anger triggers and how to constructively and positively engage in conflict resolution with peers, family members and others. Other topics include stress reduction, developing ways to defuse tense situations and how to avoid situations that can lead to destructive behavior. |

| Girls Development Groups |

EMCC has two weekly girls groups – Girls Development Group (for teens) and Jr. Girls Development Group (for elementary school children). Girls groups feature topics of interest, including personal growth, academic and vocational exploration, arts and crafts, wellness, and much more. Female professional mentors provide guidance in career exploration and investigation, and both groups participate in community service activities. |

| Boys Development Group |

The Boys Development Group meets weekly and offers enrichment activities, discussion groups, guest speakers and opportunities for community service projects for teen boys. |

| Preschool Enrichment Program |

This Headstart program offers pre-kindergarten readiness and family support for children ages 3-5 years old. Both full-time and part-time program placements are available. For more information contact the PEP director at 249-6467. |

| Summer Day Camp and Summer Teen Nights |

EMCC’s Summer Day Camp is now in its 3rd decade of providing great summer recreation for kids ages 7 – 13. Summer Day Camp meets Monday through Friday and includes educational activities, individual and group recreation, outdoor recreation, special mini-courses (golfing, tennis, etc.), swimming, picnics, field trips, multicultural programs, arts and crafts, music, nutritious meals and snacks, computer lab, biking, rollerskating and much, much more. |
